Place of luxury?   LAP   
French bread   EURO   
Ball or strike, e.g.   NOUN   
   
BTW:   
Hospital wing   WARD [odd that SELA (Ward) appeared at 17-A]   
   
Thursday morning quarterbacking:  Replace "Hospital wing" with "Bond for a movie?" and you get WARD Bond.  Maybe too old.
