Is the theme sufficiently obvious? Not the part where the entries all start with MC--obviously that's obvious--but the part where they all do it for different reasons? Scottish name, Escher's initials, etc. Do you think that's clear enough to make a hint unnecessary?

If a hint is necessary, I was thinking about something like MANY and CAUSES hanging down from one of the MCs. Is that too ambitious? The grid will already be pretty full...

Finally, is the middle entry too obscure?

Cute. I don't think a reveal is needed, it's pretty obvious. I am more familiar with M CLASS PLANETS than MC ESCHER, so I guess it just depends on what you're interested in which if any of these would seem obscure. Obviously the editor(s) will the arbiter of that.
