CC originally meant "carbon copy." With so much mail being sent via computer instead of through the United States mail, the initials are now often interpreted as standing for "courtesy copy." Do any businesses still use carbon paper? Many long-outdated expressions persist in our language. We still say we dial a telephone number even though we're pushing buttons, not dialing. Most people still call movie previews "trailers" even though it has been four decades since the previews were shown after (i.e., trailing) the feature film.
The Universal crossword includes ACHRISTMASCAROL, ABUNDLEOFNERVES and ADROPINTHEOCEAN. The puzzle has no word which offers a hint to those phrases.....but may I suggest "Triple-A"?
