THEME:   jumbles of BOY found in random phrases

GOOD ONES:
Like many teen girls {& theme}   BOY CRAZY [in a sense B-O-Y is crazily presented]
Time gone by, in times gone by   ELD

BTW:
Single chin-up, say   REP [not to my way of looking at it since the first chin-up is not a repetition]

My newspaper carried circles on the grid around the BOY jumbles making it a bit easier to spot the theme.  Wonder if the computer versions highlighted them.

RATING:    ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

I concur: A single chin-up is not a REP. The clue should have said "One of a series of chin-ups." The "boy-crazy" theme was very clever and the puzzle included only four of the usual Crosswordese words (ALOT, ELI, ERR, IRA).

"Saintly radiance" was HALO. The Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines halo as "a circle of light appearing to surround the sun or moon and resulting from refraction or reflection of light by ice particles in the atmosphere." Paintings of saints often depict a halo, but in real life, no one, no matter how saintly, ever radiates a halo. Yes, I'm probably being overly nit-picky but that's an "eld" habit of mine.
