Altered States

 :)
Beethoven’s fifths?   SOLS [as in do–re-mi…]
Old Italian dough   LIRA
Theme: phrases with additional letters completing the name of states
Having a sense of the Prairie state?   FEELINGILLINOIS
Close to the Magnolia state?   NEARMISSISSIPPI

 8)
Aware of   INON [I’d clue INON with “party to” and save “aware of” for ONTO.]

 ???
What it takes, in an inclusive idiom   ALLSORTS [isn’t the idiom “it takes all kinds”?]

 :(
Spring month in Paris   MAI [Since that’s French, I’d go with “Actress Britt.”]
Med. To Hans   MEER [Since that’s German, I’d go with “Kat or shaum start” --- only if I had to]
Sorbonne silk  SOIE [Since that’s French, I’d go with “silk ilk.”]
Spring month in Paris   ETE [Since that’s French and I have no English alternative, I’d avoid it.]

 :o
Foreign terms teem:  STES, MASSE, ISLAS, ASSAI, LIRA, TSOS, ANNO plus the four above.

RATING:  ;D ;DThree grins = Excellent: Loved it; Two grins = Good: Enjoyed it; One grin = Satisfactory: A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Unsatisfying: No fun

I agree with you about "all sorts".  I thought that was an odd one.
