C-Notes This is an outstanding puzzle for its cleverness of theme and difficulty of execution. And, it was fun to solve.
When one of the
14 C’s used in the grid is read across, it is pronounced /k/, but when it is read down, it is pronounced /c/. And in case you missed it, it is clued at the end of the puzzle. But that’s not all, the four long answers across are comprised of two words, each beginning with a hard C. And in case you missed that, it is clued at 34-Down.
Construction is not the only factor in making this a top-notch puzzle; clever semantic entries are offered --- among them are:
Missal site PEW [missal, not missile]
Knock off a sub? EAT
Letter writer? PEN
There will be harder ones coming up, but not better ones.
