THEME: last word of a phrase is "phone-y"
GOOD ONES: Where the ends of {theme words} can be found MOBILE PHONE
Test in a small room, maybe TRY ON
Collar target FLEA [not a perp]
Honda, even in reverse CIVIC [palindrome]
Ewe's guys RAMS [y'gotta hear it]
Fridge juice: Abbr. ELEC [actually we don't need "Abbr." since we have "Fridge," but we could use a question mark]
BTW: Girl o' my heart PEG [the song is "Peg o'My Heart" --- a Forties song sung by Buddy Clark (among others) and an interesting contrast to "Kool Moe Dee genre"]
"Oh, I give up!" FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE [another Forties term, this time contrasted with the modern OMG and TMI]
There seemed to be more than the usual "switching the parts of speech" ploy. For example: Guard = SENTRY, not the verb which comes to mind first; Platoon reporter = EMBED, not often used as a noun. Even "Test in a small room" for TRY ON is tricky that way.
RATING:

Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
